MBS ANSWERS

I admit privately insured chronic pain patients for ketamine infusions. There is no Medicare item number so can I charge them a private fee for the infusion?

Context

I admit privately insured chronic pain patients for overnight ketamine infusions. There is no specific Medicare item for the infusion itself. Can I charge the patient a private fee (e.g. $1,400 upfront) and tell them there is no Medicare or private health insurance rebate for this, while their insurer covers the hospital costs?
