MBS ANSWERS

If our hospital is not being paid on DRGs does the accuracy of our clinical coding really matter?

Context

We are a small private hospital and can't afford to hire clinical coders so we have been doing it ourselves. However, we have recently become aware that we are making coding errors. While we know it would be preferable to have trained coders do the work a key question for our executive is why it matters given we are not paid based on DRGs.
