Dr Margaret Faux

Dr Margaret Faux is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, having practiced law for over two decades. Margaret is an academic scholar of Medicare and health insurance law. Margaret has published in peer reviewed journals on the topic of Medicare and medical billing law, and completed her PhD on the topic of Medicare claiming and compliance. Margaret has also been administering medical billing since Medicare began (across every medical specialty), is a Registered Nurse, and the founder and CEO of global MedTech company, Synapse Medical , which operates one of the largest medical billing services in Australia via an app-based billing system with Australia’s only medical billing rules engine. Margaret is passionate about supporting health care providers with their Medicare compliance obligations and unravelling the mysteries of Medicare. She established Synapse’s training academy, The Australian Institute of Medical Administration and Compliance ‘AIMAC’  to further that purpose. AIMAC offers the only comprehensive online courses on medical billing in Australia. Margaret is considered one of Australia’s leading experts on the operation of Medicare and Australia’s health financing arrangements. She contributes widely to the national health reform debate.

Karen O’Mullane had a significant background in general, psychiatric and midwifery nursing before being admitted as a solicitor in 1998. Karen then commenced work as a medico-legal advisor and claims manager with the Medical Defence Union. In 2000, Karen moved across to United Medical Protection as a solicitor. Her practice was broad and covered a variety of jurisdictions including civil, professional conduct, coronial inquests, Medicare and medico-legal advice. Karen remained with United Medical Protection through provisional liquidation and later Avant until July 2018. In 2015, Karen became the Head of Practice, Claims, NSW where she was responsible for ensuring the State based claims team maintained a high standard of customer service in the provision of claims, medico-legal and support services to Avant and its members. Karen is one of the most experienced medico-legal advisors in Australia, having represented Doctors including those under investigation for incorrect Medicare billing and professional misconduct.

Rob Khamas

Rob Khamas is well-known in Australia as the CEO and founder of REND Tech Associates, a leading provider of Healthcare IT that today offers a nationwide solution to healthcare professionals, clinics, specialists and government organisations. Rob has also contributed articles to a wide range of publications in a bid to inform healthcare professionals on the ways in which technology can benefit their businesses. Rob is a SAP BI BW Data Warehouse Professional and has a Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering.

Veena Sehgal

With 3 decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry ranging from Product manufacturing, Regulatory affairs, Market Research, Product planning, Corporate strategy, Product management, Sales & Marketing and Global Business Development, Veena embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship in 2015. She is a Director at ‘Cadence Hub’ an organization that provides Technical and Strategic consulting services to pharmaceutical companies to bring about a global vision for various markets differentiated by their regulatory environments and market dynamics with each posing a different set of challenges. Veena has a post graduate degree in Pharmacy and a gold medal to her credit from the most reputed University, UIPS-(University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences), India (The Pharmacy of the World).
