What is this about?
How often have you read that bulk billing outpatients in public hospitals is illegal? Well, you may be surprised (and relieved) to learn that it’s not! Nor is informing privately insured patients about their options to use their private health insurance while admitted in a public facility. We’ll settle these issues once and for all by taking you for a walk through the relevant law. We’ll also look at specific case studies demonstrating the grey areas, where something may not be illegal but may raise ethical issues.
